Spanish fitness guru smashes Guinness record with year-long Burpee Challenge
At the start of the year, the Spanish native Felix Soria embarked on a year-long challenge. He progressively increased the number of repetitions each day, starting with one on January 1st and finishing with 365 on New Year's Eve.
The challenge culminated at the Son Moix City Sports Palace in Palma de Mallorca. A multitude of fans, family, friends, and mentees were in attendance. Some even joined him in the undertaking.
Over the course of the year, he completed an impressive 66,795 repetitions. As a result, he set a new Guinness record. He admitted that the endeavor proved challenging, particularly as it approached the end.
"This is a significant day. Daily effort and sacrifices have boosted my endurance and determination to reach goals that seemed unachievable at first glance," he said after securing the record.
40-year-old Soria, a former representative of Spain in boxing and presently a crossfit coach, also shed light on his motivation to undertake the challenge.
"I wanted to promote the importance of physical activity, health, and sports, done daily and without the necessity of bearing any financial burden," he told "Ultima Hora".

What is the Burpee Challenge?
The Burpee Challenge, often called "burpee", is designed to test an individual's endurance. It is also widely recognized as one of the most vital exercises in CrossFit.
The participant begins in a standing position. They execute a squat thrust and extend their legs back such that the torso and legs align straight. They then return to the squat and standing position.
