We will soon witness the premiere of the latest model, the Sony Xperia 1 VI. This upcoming model boasts standard technological enhancements, with a noteworthy feature being the refined telephoto lens complemented by updated camera software.

Remember the presence of Sony smartphones in the market? Xperia devices were once highly sought after for their superior photo and video quality. It appears the Sony Xperia 1 VI is set to live up to buyers' expectations. Yet, it remains to be seen if the camera quality alone will sway customers towards this premium flagship.

The new Sony smartphone boasts an exceptional camera

We've known Sony through various nomenclatures—from Sony to Sony Ericsson, and now Xperia. Despite the brand's struggles in the mobile phone market in recent years, Sony smartphones are meticulously crafted, often featuring unique elements that set them apart. However, they haven't captured as much attention as the latest offerings from realme, Samsung, Xiaomi, or Apple. Nonetheless, it's important to highlight that Sony flagships are renowned for their extraordinary photographic capabilities—a testament to Sony's esteemed standing in the photography industry.

The Sony Xperia 1 VI is set to launch on May 15 officially. Initial reports spotlight an advanced photography camera, stirring increasing interest in the new Xperia 1 VI model.

Impressive telephoto lens

A standout feature of the Xperia 1 VI is its notable emphasis on zoom capabilities.

The Sony Xperia 1 VI's telephoto lens will surpass its predecessor with a new optical zoom range of 85-170 mm. This enables 3.5 to 7 times zoom—an impressive feat, especially when compared to competitors like the Google Pixel 8 Pro or Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra, which offer up to five times zoom.

New camera app

A significant update for many will be the new camera app, designed for ease and intuitiveness. This all-in-one app aims to simplify control over various photo and video modes. Sony's history of promoting advanced features for professionals, including cinema-quality film recording, has often left average users navigating a complex interface. The new app promises a more user-friendly experience without sacrificing the device's sophisticated capabilities.
The hardware of the main and wide-angle cameras remains the same as in the Sony Xperia 1 V, but software improvements have enhanced the device's performance, promising even better photo and video quality.
Changes from previous models extend to the design as well. Formerly, Sony smartphones featured a distinctive, elongated shape with a 21:9 screen ratio. The new model expects a 19.5:9 screen ratio and possibly a 4K resolution. Performance-wise, the device is set to excel with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, supported by 12 or 16 GB of RAM.

Will the Sony Xperia 1 VI be the top choice for photography enthusiasts? Only time will tell. While photo quality tests may impress, the impact on smartphone sales is an entirely different story. It remains uncertain if this new flagship can challenge the market dominance of brands like Samsung, Apple, and other manufacturers.
