Despite anticipating the new model's reveal, fans might want to postpone getting their wallets ready. Sony typically introduces new smartphones well before their market launch and even before the price tag is announced.

Are changes coming?

With the premiere almost a month away, rumors about the Xperia 1 VI have already started to emerge. Leaks suggest it will be the first in its series to move away from the 21:9 aspect ratio and 4K screen resolution, opting for a more standard 19.5:9 ratio and 2K resolution.

Despite these changes, Sony appears to retain some of its signature features. Reports indicate that the Xperia 1 VI will maintain a notch-free screen, relatively wide bezels with front stereo speakers, a headphone jack, and a dedicated shutter button on the side of the device.

Further details about the new model are expected to be revealed on May 17.
