The Barnsley players were scared. The English club's team bus caught fire on the highway. The players were evacuated, and the team issued a special statement.

On Sunday, as part of the English League One, Barnsley faced off against Exeter City on the road. The Saturday match went in favor of the visitors, who won 1:0 thanks to a goal by John McAtee towards the end of the match. However, it's not the score that will stay in their memory for many years.

Everything is due to the fact that the team's bus was engulfed in flames on the English M5 highway. Pictures from the event surfaced on the internet Saturday evening (see the below video). They were later officially confirmed by club representatives.

They noted that their team bus was indeed engulfed in flames. All the players were evacuated and are in good physical condition, which the team confirmed in a statement they posted on social media.

"We can confirm that on the way back from our fixture against Exeter City this evening, our club coach suffered complications and subsequently caught fire. All players and staff on board were evacuated safely. Everyone is in good health. The club will make no further comment at this time and is focused on ensuring the safe return of staff and players" - we can read in the statement.

The club will however have some time to find a new vehicle to transport them to games. Their next match won't be for another two weeks due to a break caused by the international window.
