Small plane ablaze after crash on Isle of Wight; All safe
A plane crash occurred on the Isle of Wight in England. A small plane crashed and then caught fire after hitting the ground. "The Sun" reported that all the people on board are safe.
The crash occurred near the Whitecliff Bay Holiday Park campsite on the Isle of Wight. A fire broke out at the scene, causing fear among local residents. The accident happened on April 12th around 2:30 PM.
"The Sun" published accounts from witnesses who reported hearing a loud bang and seeing black smoke rising from the crashed plane. Firefighters from Newport and Ryde quickly arrived at the scene.
The plane was severely damaged due to both the impact and the subsequent fire. It is known that two people were on board, and they managed to exit the plane on their own.
All occupants had safely exited the aircraft before emergency services arrived, as reported in the local newspaper "Isle of Wight County Press".
Their health is not in danger, and medics diagnosed only minor injuries. Nearby residents were also examined, but no one required hospitalization.
To prevent the spread of the fire, firefighters used several extinguishers. Once the fire was under control, a thermal imaging camera ensured no areas were left where the fire could still smolder.
Circumstances of the plane crash in England
The plane took off from the airport in Bembridge in the southeastern part of the country. While flying at a low altitude, it clipped the chimney of one of the vacation cottages. It crashed on a campsite, where there were many similar buildings.
The incident appeared serious, so a rescue helicopter was called. It turned out to be unnecessary. The Whitecliff Bay Holiday Park remained open, and guests are still able to stay in the cottages.
Hillway Road access is impassable. Police Inspector Alex Dale assured the "Isle of Wight County Press" that the situation is under control and there is no need for additional safety measures. Traffic will be restored soon.
