Rachel McAdams is widely recognized for her numerous, iconic roles. She's not just popular for her remarkable acting skills, which have earned applause from film critics, but also for her striking beauty. For a long time, she has been perceived as one of the most beautiful actresses worldwide. Nonetheless, she recently made a conscious decision to shift from the image of an impeccable, idolized Hollywood icon.
Rachel McAdams graces a magazine cover with visible armpit hair
The media went into a tailspin in 1999 when Julia Roberts attended the premiere of "Notting Hill" in a stunning dress, with noticeable underarm hair. A lot of people condemned her choice, but Roberts stood by her personal preference of not shaving her armpits.
Nearly 24 years later, Rachel McAdams made a similar bold statement. She revealed her underarm hair on the cover of "Bustle" magazine. She further requested minimal retouching on her photos, which is why signs of aging, such as a few wrinkles, are perceptible on her face, adding to her authentic appeal.
"This is my body, and I believe it's crucial for everyone to realize it. I'm fond of the blend of beauty, impressiveness, fantasy, and truth," she proclaimed during an interview with "Bustle".
Meanwhile, she stressed that she continues to maintain self-care routines.
"You should strive to look your best, work towards it, and preserve your health. However, the method varies for everyone," McAdams noted.
McAdams has always stood her ground over the years, as demonstrated during a 2006 "Vanity Fair" photo shoot. She was scheduled to feature on the magazine's cover alongside Scarlett Johansson and Keira Knightley, but she immediately withdrew when she discovered the requirement to pose nude.
Rachel McAdams marks her 45th birthday
Rachel McAdams came into this world on November 17, 1978. As her career soared, she deliberately took a hiatus. Quite assured in her decision, she turned down successive roles. It's hard to think she could have headlined such renowned productions as "Casino Royale" and "The Devil Wears Prada". Apparently, she had a clear vision of what she wanted.
Her filmography includes hits such as "The Notebook", "Mean Girls", and "The Vow". It may surprise many that she was initially expected to make a career as a figure skater, given her remarkable talent. Nevertheless, she chose to follow her passion and pursue acting.
