She flew to Asia to study. She has been living in fear and hiding for a year
Kayleigh Fraser is a British woman who flew to study in Sri Lanka (South Asia). The woman shared videos on social media with local citizens protesting against the authorities. Finally, the repressive government of the Asian country took interest in her. She has been living in fear and hiding for a year. She has already lost hope for a safe return to England.

The "Daily Mail" is reporting on the matter. Kayleigh Fraser went to Sri Lanka to study botanical medicine. During her stay in this country, the citizens staged a rebellion against the government. This happened from March to November 2022.
There took place what is known as "aragalaya," or civilian protests in Sri Lanka directed against the government of President Gotabaya Rajapaksa. They were caused by a severe economic crisis and high inflation. Fraser supported the fighting Sri Lankans.
She published numerous videos and photos on her social media showing the civic uprising. The behavior of this British woman did not please the Sri Lankan government. They raided her apartment. They confiscated her visa and passport. They declared that "the documents are invalid". They prevented her from leaving the island nation.
British woman's nightmare in Sri Lanka. She's been hiding for a year
Since then, the woman has had to hide in Sri Lanka. This has been going on for 13 months. Her friendly citizens help her. Although an order for her deportation to the United Kingdom has been issued, Fraser is afraid to surrender to the Sri Lankan government. She fears unlawful detention and false charges.
Politicians from the United Kingdom are negotiating with the government of Sri Lanka. They want written assurances from the Asian government that Fraser will indeed be able to safely return to her country. However, this is dragging on. So far, it is not yielding tangible results. The woman, who - as she claims - only wanted to help the oppressed population, is at the end of her tether.
I'm just enduring, existing here and waiting for something to change. I have no way out and practically no hope left - Fraser told the "Daily Mail".
