The awards season in Hollywood is approaching. We recently had the chance to see Emily Blunt in the renowned "Oppenheimer". Now the star is apologizing for words she spoke over a decade ago. Is she afraid that because of it she will lose her chance at an Oscar?

In the age of social media, which instantly captures and disseminates alarming amounts of content, one must be exceptionally careful about what they say. Now, Emily Blunt has learned this and decided to deny words spoken several years ago. And all this is probably due to a part of a program featuring the actress, which has recently been circulating on the internet.

What is Emily Blunt apologizing for?

As reported by "Variety", Oppenheimer's on-screen wife in an interview for "People" magazine referenced an interview she gave on "The Jonathan Ross Show" in 2012. The actress, who was promoting Rian Johnson's film "Looper - Time Loop" at the time, admits that she was reminded of those unfortunate words by a clip that recently started making the rounds on the internet.

During the conversation, Blunt reportedly made a few statements, for which she could be accused of fat shaming, that is stigmatizing obesity. “If you go to Chili's [an American casual dining restaurant chain - note from the author], you'll see why so many of our American friends are enormous. Even the girl who was serving us was enormous,” said the star at the time.

Did the star lose a chance for awards?

In a special statement for "People", the actress embodying the main character of John Krasinski's "A Quiet Place" decided to address her infamous opinion from years ago in advance, just in case it might unnecessarily harm her in the future.

- I have to deal with this matter immediately because my jaw dropped when I saw a clip from 12 years ago. I am terrified that I could have said something so insensitive, painful, and completely unrelated to the story I wanted to tell in the program - she confessed sincerely.

- I've always considered myself a person who would never even dream of offending anyone. So whatever possessed me to say something like that, I don't recognize it and it doesn't reflect the values I believe in. And yet it happened. I said it. And now I'm very sorry for any harm I might have caused. I was old enough to know better - the actress apologized.

We recently saw Emily Blunt in the famous "Oppenheimer", where she played the wife of the main character, Kitty. It is said that the star of "The Girl on the Train" has a high chance of receiving her first career Oscar nomination for this role.
