Shannen Doherty's final days: A heartfelt farewell from a dear friend

On July 13, at the age of 53, Shannen Doherty passed away. The actress had been battling cancer for many years. News of her death saddened thousands of fans as well as her loved ones. Chris Cortazzo, her closest friend, decided to bid farewell to the star in a heartfelt way.

Shannen Doherty gained international fame thanks to series such as "Beverly Hills 90210" and "Charmed." Although she ended her career a few years ago, fans still remember the star fondly. In recent years, she focused on her health and fought against malignant breast cancer. Doherty spoke openly about her illness, as well as the metastases to her bones and brain. Her death was reported in "The People" by her manager, Leslie Sloan.

Her friend was with her till the end

Following the official news of Doherty's death, her closest friend Christopher Cortazzo posted an emotional message on Instagram along with a collage of photos and recordings taken over the years.

"My beloved friend and heart. What memories and laughter we have shared through this journey. You were my protector, my best friend and my divine wife. My heart is shattered. I love you forever my sweet dear friend. Your Christopher," wrote Cortazzo.

Chris Cortazzo was seen by photographers with Doherty a few hours before her death. The friends were walking the streets of Miami, talking and shopping.

Doherty Grappled with the disease for years

In 2015, Shannen Doherty was diagnosed with breast cancer. After initial treatments, the disease subsided but unfortunately returned in 2019. In the following years, the actress shared information about the spread of the cancer to her brain and bones.

Despite her severe illness, Doherty became a symbol of steadfast determination in fighting for health and life. She spoke openly about her treatment, and recently, on her podcast "Let's Be Clear with Shannen Doherty," she mentioned another upcoming chemotherapy session.
