Shannen Doherty finalized her divorce two days after her death. A rare gesture by the court
Doherty struggled not only with health problems but also with difficulties in her personal life. In a podcast, "Let's Be Clear," the star confessed that shortly before her brain surgery, she found out about her husband Kurt Iswarienko’s infidelity. The end of a long-term marriage under such circumstances was a shock to her, but she had no other option but to file for divorce.
Although Shannen fought hard to finalize the divorce before her death, she unfortunately didn't manage to do it and died as a married woman. TMZ reports that the actress's lawyer worked on finalizing all the details until the last moment, and it was only completed last Friday, the day before the actress passed away.
Since the court was not in session over the weekend, the case was heard on Monday, July 15. Usually, when death occurs during a divorce, the case goes to the probate court, but this time it was different. E! News portal announces that the judge made an exception and granted the actress a divorce two days after her death. It’s a rare situation, but in this way, one of the issues Shannen fought so hard for was resolved.
Industry portals inform that the settlement included, among other things, the division of assets between her and her ex-husband. Doherty received the Malibu residence, several cars, entire earnings from her acting career, and a painting by Salvador Dali.
