Shake your way to perfectly peeled eggs every time

We often boil hard-boiled eggs several times a week. We need them not only for sandwiches but also for salads or spreads. Not a fan of peeling eggs? This trick will make it easier for you.

Cooking one egg for breakfast is manageable, but it’s a bit more challenging when you need multiple eggs, like for a spread or salad. Not everyone enjoys the tedious peeling process, especially when in a hurry. That’s when a trick I learned from my cousin comes in handy.

How to peel an egg perfectly

Improperly peeled eggs, with torn pieces of egg white, can be frustrating. The fresher the eggs, the harder it is to remove the shell cleanly because the membrane adheres tightly. However, there's a method to simplify this task. Just place the eggs in a jar and shake them vigorously. That’s exactly what my cousin does. How does it work?

You need to shake the jar

For this trick, it’s important to put the cooled eggs into a jar, add cold water, close the container, and shake it vigorously. Shake until the shell cracks, allowing water to penetrate and help separate the layers efficiently.

This method allows you to prep the eggs in just a few seconds while keeping your hands clean. This technique is similar to one our grandmothers have used for years. After boiling, they would immerse the eggs in cold water right in the pot to cool them, making them easier to peel.

Eggs not only for breakfast

Hard-boiled or soft-boiled? These are definitely the most popular ways to prepare eggs. Eggs are a fantastic choice for both breakfast and dinner, offering a wealth of nutrients. They are rich in high-quality protein containing all essential amino acids.

The yolk is a source of healthy fats and vitamins, such as A, D, E, and K. It also contains antioxidants like lutein and zeaxanthin, which support eye health. Meanwhile, choline enhances brain function and the nervous system, while minerals like iron, zinc, and selenium support skin health and the immune system.
