According to North Korea's official news agency, on Thursday, a significant incident took place during the warship's launch. The country's leader, Kim Jong Un, was present and described the occurrence as a "criminal act."

The official KCNA news agency reported that a "serious accident" struck the launch of a new 5,500-ton destroyer on Wednesday.

Kim Jong Un observed the entire launch sequence and condemned the incident as a "criminal act caused by sheer carelessness," which he declared intolerable, according to the agency.

Reuters reported that Kim Jong Un has commanded repairs to be completed on the damaged ship by the June session of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea.
