Serbian cop shot in front of Israeli embassy in Belgrade

A Serbian police officer was shot in front of the Israeli embassy in Belgrade on Saturday, the Serbian Ministry of Internal Affairs reported, describing the attack as a terrorist incident. The assailant was neutralized.

The officer, who is part of the gendarmerie division of the police, was part of the permanent security detail of the Israeli diplomatic mission. He was shot in the neck and was taken to the hospital, where he is currently undergoing surgery.

The Serbian Ministry of Internal Affairs stated that there is "no doubt that it was a terrorist attack." The officer opened fire on the assailant, who died half an hour after the exchange of gunfire.
