Hurricane Ciaran is sweeping across Europe, causing significant damage in many places, including the United Kingdom. Winds in the UK have reached speeds of up to about 105 mph. As a result, the meteorological service of the UK has issued a "threat to life" warning for England and Wales, marking the second highest level of alert. The public is being advised to avoid areas near the coast due to extremely dangerous conditions.

Despite the threat, some people seem to place more importance on capturing a unique image than on their personal safety. A woman was filmed on TikTok walking on a stone pier in Whitby, North Yorkshire, and attempting to take a selfie in the midst of the tumultuous storm.

She was suddenly hit by a massive wave and was almost swept off the stone pier. Fortunately, she managed in time to stand up and avoid being dragged into the sea. Just a few seconds later, she quickly retreated along the pier to find safety, completely soaked from head to toe.

In an interview with the "Daily Mail", Steve Hart, Senior Operations Officer for HM Coastguard, reminded everyone that when a storm warning is issued, it is essential to stay at home. He warned, "It's not worth risking your life for a photo or a selfie, nor risking the lives of those who might have to rescue you from the water."
