Blanco faces criticism from fans regarding several issues: his friendship with Justin and Hailey Bieber, his physical appearance, and old records that have been deemed "problematic" by the singer's avid fans. Specifically, a segment of Blanco's remarks in a clip, where the 35-year-old talks about Bieber and laughs at Gomez, has caused a furor.

"Justin isn't one of those artists who will be baking cookies," Benny said in the interview. "He's the type who'd say, 'Yo, I have a pimple. I'm having a panic attack right now.'"

It's a well-known fact that Selena is the founder of the cosmetics brand Rare Beauty and also hosts the cooking show Selena + Chef. Fans interpreted Benny's comment as a jab at Gomez. They voiced their concerns in a post on one of the singer's fan accounts, bombarded Gomez with comments criticizing her boyfriend. This time, surprisingly, Gomez chose to respond.

"He spoke ill of you, he doesn't treat you well" one comment read.

"Then why is he one of the best things that ever happened in my life?" she retorted. "He's better than any other guy I've dated. Those are the facts."

Among other issues, Gomez was accused of not supporting Palestine during the Israeli conflict and conveniently disappearing from social media. She was said to have returned merely to quarrel with her audience. In response to a comment calling her "naive and looking for trouble", Gomez replied:

"I don't understand. If you care about me, why can't you see that I'm at my happiest? Your words won't control my life. I've been in therapy since I was 18. I know what's best for me, and I'll fight for what I deserve. If you can't accept my happiness, you have no place in my life. I'm sorry that I let you down."
