Many reports from Russian media or government officials are elements of propaganda. Such reports are part of the ongoing information war conducted by the Russian Federation.

During a segment on Russian television, Dmitry Peskov was asked why the conversation took place now and whether Germany's internal situation influenced it.

"Of course, all elements likely come together in such a way that there is political will to resume dialogue. In this case, it can only be welcomed, especially since President Putin has repeatedly stated he's open to dialogue," Peskov emphasized.

Scholz talks with Putin

On Friday, for the first time in nearly two years, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz spoke with Vladimir Putin. The last contact between the two leaders took place in December 2022. The German government spokesman, Steffen Hebestreit, provided this information.

The government spokesman in Berlin, Steffen Hebestreit, reported that Scholz, during his conversation with Putin, insisted that Russia be prepared for talks with Ukraine to negotiate a lasting and just peace.

Hebestreit emphasized that Scholz spoke with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Wednesday and intends to contact him again following the conversation with Putin.
