Many Polish teams have raised complaints about their operating conditions. However, the situation that emerged prior to the U20 women's football match between Burundi and the Democratic Republic of Congo was nothing short of shocking. The footage, highlighting these appalling conditions, released by the Football Federation of the Democratic Republic of Congo on social media, has sparked outrage and initiated action.

Shocking footage from the DR Congo team

The Democratic Republic of Congo's football federation revealed the pre-match conditions against Burundi on social media. The entire team was accommodated in a single room that lacked even basic furniture. The footage showed 22 women sleeping together on the floor.

This scandalous situation is already being addressed by FIFPro. As an international association defending footballers' rights, it is no surprise that they have taken up this shocking issue.

"The DR Congo Federation shared shocking footage that exposed the appalling accommodation conditions of the U20 women's national team during international duties" - The statement was put up on the FIFPro profile on platform X.

A loss in the wake of the scandal

The appalling accommodation conditions faced by the Democratic Republic of Congo's team could have impacted the outcome of the third round of the U20 Women's African Championship qualifiers. The match concluded with a 1:0 win for the home team of Burundi, despite the DR Congo team proving to be stronger with a previous 3:2 victory.
