Many of us, especially those who prioritize cleanliness and a pleasant scent, cannot stand the air tainted with the garbage can's stench. Resorting to fresheners or odor absorbers merely masks the problem without eliminating it. However, it can be addressed effectively with just two items. Without giving it a shot, you're choosing to continue suffering, which is unnecessary.

What to do to stop the trash can from smelling?

This is a common question among those who feel at a loss with a persistently smelly trash can. If you've tried everything and the foul smell still lingers, there's no need to wait. Often, even after taking out the trash or washing the bin, the odor remains, becoming intolerable over time. The solution doesn't require specialized chemicals or diffusers but patience and ingenuity, transforming your smelly bin into a pleasantly scented corner of your home.

How to tackle the stench from the trash can?

If you're skeptical about a home remedy for a foul-smelling bin working, especially after professional products have failed, consider this: natural remedies are often more effective than commercial detergents with fancy labels. To start, remove the trash, and once a new bag is in place, get some cosmetic cotton wool, which is inexpensive. You also need essential oil in any scent you prefer to tackle the unpleasant odor. Simply spray it on the cotton and toss it into the bin, and the problem will sort itself out.

If you're still not convinced by this trick, consider using mouthwash instead of essential oil, which can also neutralize the unpleasant odor inside the garbage can. Baking soda is an excellent solution for odor issues, as it absorbs smells and has disinfecting properties. Alternatively, coffee beans can significantly improve the scent of your bin.

You can place these odor-fighting materials at the bottom of the trash can and even use scented trash bags. Regularly disinfecting the bin, with vinegar being an ideal choice for a thorough cleaning, can also eliminate odors. With these tips, the issue of a bad-smelling garbage bin should be resolved for good.
