Say farewell to store-bought refreshments. Easy steps to make your delicious Orangeade at home
Instead of a store-bought concoction with dubious ingredients, treat your loved ones, particularly children, to delectable homemade orangeade. Now, with stores running promotions for oranges, you can whip up a tasty drink reminiscent of Fanta. Ensure to follow this recipe closely.
How do you make homemade orangeade?
Creating homemade orangeade is straightforward. All you need is a good supply of citrus fruits - oranges, lemons, and possibly tangerines or grapefruits, depending on your preference. Homemade orangeade is less sugar-loaded than its store-bought counterparts, which can list sugar under several names, not all indicating a sweetener.
The adults can serve Homemade orangeade with ice cubes and refreshing mint, while the children may prefer a fizzier variation reminiscent of Fanta or Mirinda. Don't water down the prepared juice/syrup; combine this concentrate with sparkling water.
Recipe for homemade orangeade
Ingredients:
- 11 lbs of oranges,
- 7 oz of sugar,
- 3 lemons,
- 1.32 gallons of water,
- 1 sachet of baking soda.
Instructions:
- Scrub oranges with a stiff bristle brush. First, dip the brush in water, then take a bit of baking soda on it. Scrub the citrus peel thoroughly, then rinse the fruit under running water (see our guide on removing chemicals from citrus peel).
- Peel the fruit and remove the white parts from the peels.
- Cut the oranges and lemons into smaller segments and put them into the pot with the peels. Add water, boil, and let it simmer for 15 minutes.
- After this, blend every ingredient into a purée and strain through a sieve to get clear juice. If it's too thick, add some water.
- Combine the resulting juice with sugar and heat it so the sugar dissolves. Bring it back to a boil.
- Pour the finished juice into clean bottles and seal them while it is still hot.
