Saudi doctor attack shocks Magdeburg Christmas market

Reaction of authorities and medical services
The attacker was identified as a doctor from Saudi Arabia who has been living and working in Germany since 2006. The Prime Minister of Saxony-Anhalt, Reiner Haseloff, confirmed the suspect's identity. The police arrested the suspect but have not ruled out the possibility of accomplices.
The authorities in Magdeburg confirmed the deaths of two people. Earlier media reports, including from "Bild" and "Volksstimme," incorrectly reported 11 fatalities. The university hospital in Magdeburg admitted up to 20 injured people and is prepared to receive more patients.
