Sandra Bullock's cinematic return teased with 'Practical Magic 2'
The adventure romantic comedy "The Lost City" was promoted as Sandra Bullock's farewell film. It wasn't just a marketing strategy. The actress has not appeared in any film since March 2022. Viewers miss her, as shown by the popularity of her film on the Max platform.
During the promotional conference for "The Lost City," Sandra Bullock announced her decision to pause her acting career and step away from public life. "I’m going to take some time off to be a mother to Louis and Laila. I’ll get back to it. I don’t know when. Probably when they’re teenagers, 16- or 17-years old," said the 57-year-old Hollywood star at the time.
The actress has two adopted children who are still a bit away from adulthood. Her son, Louis, is 14 years old, while her daughter, Laila, is 12 years old. However, it seems Bullock might not remain on "maternity leave" for several more years. Preparations are underway for the production of "Practical Magic 2," which will feature both stars of the 1998 original – Nicole Kidman and Sandra Bullock.
Meanwhile, viewers of the Max movie service can watch "The Lost City."
"The Lost City" is compared to the famous '80s hit, "Romancing the Stone." The similarities are numerous. A famous romance novelist lives in a world of her fantasies. She writes extensively about love and adventures but leads a life devoid of intense emotions and feelings. This changes when she is kidnapped along with the cover model of her books, played by Channing Tatum, marking his return to Hollywood.
The adventure production was very successful in theaters. In the challenging post-pandemic period for films, it grossed nearly $200 million at the box office. "Very enjoyable entertainment cinema," critics wrote about the film.
