Samoa boxing coach dies of cardiac arrest in Olympic village

An unexpected accident occurred in the Olympic village in France, and one of the competition team's coaches passed away.

The coach of the Samoa boxing team, Lionel Elika Fatupaito, died on Friday in the Olympic village in Seine-Saint-Denis at the age of 60 after a cardiac arrest, according to prosecutors in Bobigny.

Prosecutors added that the death occurred "from natural causes" and that there are no medico-legal obstacles to the burial.

The International Boxing Association (IBA) expressed "sincerest condolences to the coach's family, friends, and colleagues" in a statement.
