"Hot water is also relaxing and sensual, and seeing each other naked and wet can be very arousing," says the sexologist. So, if you're contemplating trying shower sex, remember key safety measures for an enjoyable and safe experience.
Put Safety First
Most people's bathrooms have tiles or a shower tray. Though many tiles now have a rough surface, they can become slippery when wet. As a result, investing in a non-slip mat could be a good idea if you're planning on getting intimate in the shower.
Proper lubrication of intimate areas also needs consideration, as water can increase friction between partners. Opt for a natural or silicone-based lubricant instead of bath oil, and apply it before entering the shower to avoid making the floor more slippery.
Watch out for the Shower Head and Hot Water
When making love in the shower, ensure the water is not too hot. While steam can heighten sensations, too much can lead to excessive muscle relaxation and possibly fainting. It's also wise to position the shower head to prevent injuries. Aim the water stream towards the legs or torso to minimize abrasion risk.
It's important to remember that a shower is not the best place to experiment with new and challenging positions. Choose those that provide pleasure, but most importantly, offer stability and safety for both parties.
