Saab teams up with ICEYE to boost military radar capabilities
The Polish-Finnish company ICEYE has signed a memorandum of cooperation with the Swedish corporation Saab to integrate advanced radar data into military command systems.
The goal of this strategic partnership is to combine ICEYE's state-of-the-art SAR technology solutions with Saab's command and control systems. This integration aims to improve tactical decision-making and increase situational awareness in defense, as reported by Saab.

The integration of ICEYE's data by Saab will enable the acquisition of high-resolution images in real-time, even in conditions of cloud cover and darkness, allowing for comprehensive surveillance and reconnaissance. This capability facilitates faster, more informed decision-making in complex operational environments, according to an official statement by Carl-Johan Bergholm, Senior Vice President and Head of the Business Area at Saab.
ICEYE has the world's largest constellation of radar satellites (SAR - Synthetic Aperture Radar), with 44 satellites currently orbiting the Earth.
ICEYE, meaning "ice eye," was founded with the aim of monitoring changes in the ice cover. The company's first contract was with the American giant Exxon Mobil and involved using satellites to monitor the maritime transport of oil from Moscow via the northern route. After the annexation of Crimea, the initial million-dollar order disappeared overnight due to sanctions specifically targeting raw material transportation via the northern route. What seemed to be the end suddenly became a new beginning, as the information ICEYE had access to became invaluable.
