The story of the troublesome passenger traveling with Ryanair to Athens should warn all who behave inappropriately at airports or on flights, disrupting the journey and not following crew instructions.

Troublesome passenger convicted

This is exactly how the man who traveled to the capital of Greece in July 2020 behaved. Although more than four years have passed since then, the court ruled on Wednesday, December 18.

The passenger received a suspended five-month prison sentence and a fine of 400 euros (over $420). Ryanair is pleased with the verdict and emphasizes its strict zero-tolerance policy for inappropriate passenger behavior.

According to the Irish airline, firm actions against troublesome passengers benefit the rest of the travelers who do not disrupt the flight.

"The safety and well-being of our passengers and crew is the number one priority for Ryanair. Ryanair welcomes the court's decision in Athens, which confirmed that the small number of passengers disrupting flights will face consequences for their behavior," said a Ryanair representative, quoted in a press release.

Inappropriate situations

Although some reports of passenger behavior seem unrealistic, they do happen. For instance, in November, a passenger traveling from the United Kingdom to the Canary Islands behaved loudly and aggressively, seriously disrupting the flight. However, that was not the worst part. At one point, a passenger did not use the airplane toilet when needed and instead urinated in the cabin. Upon reaching Tenerife, the plane was greeted by local police, who immediately dealt with the disruptive passengers.

Recently, A surprising situation occurred on a Jet2 flight from Antalya, Turkey, to Leeds, England. The flight turned into a nightmare when two passengers fought on board. Despite attempts to intervene by the crew and other travelers, the aggressor continued to attack, headbutting and trying to bite the opponent. The plane had to make an emergency landing, and the man was immediately handed over to local authorities.

Stories of such situations can be multiplied almost endlessly.
