Ryan Gosling's "I'm Just Ken" performance steals the show at the Oscars

At the 2024 Oscars ceremony, Ryan Gosling wowed the audience with his thrilling parodic live performance of "I'm Just Ken" from the original soundtrack of "Barbie." "I'm Just Ken" was one of two songs from "Barbie" nominated in the best original song category. Despite Gosling's efforts, the other nomination from "Barbie" clinched the trophy.

Few knew Gosling's whereabouts when the first notes of "I'm Just Ken" played. He wasn't on the stage. Soon, the star was spotted sitting in the audience behind Margot Robbie, dressed in a shiny pink suit and gloves, initially concealing his face with a hat.

At the song's first words, his on-screen partner burst into laughter, which quickly spread throughout the hall. Gosling, singing, made his way towards the stage to join guitarist Mark Ronson and an entire army of dancers.

Surprise performance by the star of Guns N' Roses

Shortly after, the Oscars' audience was treated to another surprise. Slash, the legendary Guns N’ Roses guitarist, appeared on stage, prompting everyone in the Dolby Theatre to rise. Gosling, along with Slash's solo, thrilled the crowd.

Later, Gosling returned to the audience and passed the microphone to his collaborators from "Barbie," including director Greta Gerwig, who sang along with him. In a final act, he pulled a cameraman onto the stage. The general excitement and applause only paused for a commercial break.
