Russia's massive drone attack was repelled by Ukrainian air defense
This was the most massive Russian drone attack this year. Ukrainian air defence shot down 89 drones. The air raid alert lasted over seven hours. There are no reports of casualties.

"Last night, the Russians conducted one of the most massive attacks on Ukraine using combat drones in the entire war! The main target of the aggressor was Kyiv. The enemy sent dozens of drones to the capital of Ukraine, a quiet city. It was already the seventh enemy drone attack on Kyiv this July," Popko wrote on Telegram Wednesday morning.
"It was the most massive attack on Kyiv since the beginning of the year; the air raid alert in the capital lasted over 7 hours," describes Ukrainian Pravda.
Over 89 drones shot down
"Air defense forces and equipment also destroyed several other enemy assault drones. In total, during these two waves in the airspace of Kyiv and on the outskirts of the capital, over 40 enemy unmanned aerial vehicles were shot down," it was pointed out.
In total, the Russians launched as many as 89 drones at Ukraine - according to the Air Force.
"This is one of the most massive attacks by Shahed-131/136 attack drones. The Ukrainian air defense endured and repelled the massive attack," the statement reads. In addition to this, one Kh-59 missile was also destroyed.
Alarm lasted seven hours
The air raid alert lasted over seven hours. Drones attacked the capital of Ukraine in waves and from nearly every direction. According to preliminary findings, no casualties or material damage have been reported in Kyiv so far. As informed by the Kyiv Military Administration, the Russian forces continued attacks on the city using drones on Wednesday.
The air raid alert continued in the eastern and southern parts of Ukraine on Wednesday morning, and Russian strategic aviation activity was observed. Authorities urged people to remain in shelters until the alarm was called off.
