Russia's casualties in Ukraine soar, total surpasses 465,000
The British Ministry of Defence reported that the average daily number of Russian war casualties in Ukraine, including both those killed and wounded, reached 899 in April, consistent with the trend throughout 2024.
In its daily intelligence update, the ministry indicated that the average daily number of Russian casualties is likely to increase in the next two months. This expected rise is attributed to the resumption of offensive operations in Eastern Ukraine, following a slight slowdown in the past two months since Avdiivka was captured.
The report also highlighted that the total number of Russian casualties since the beginning of the invasion in Ukraine now exceeds 465,000.
"It is likely that, despite the tremendous cost in human lives, Russia has adapted its armed forces to a war of attrition, which prioritizes quantity over quality. This reliance on quantity is expected to continue throughout the entire conflict in Ukraine and will have a lasting impact on the Russian army in the future," it reads.
