Russians use human shield tactic in Mariupol weapon depot

Petro Andriuszczenko reported that Russian soldiers organized a weapons depot hidden deep within a residential area in Mariupol. This is yet another instance where the Russian army has used the "human shield" tactic.

The war in Ukraine has been ongoing for over two and a half years. During this period, we have witnessed initiatives taken by both sides. Currently, many actions are limited to small sections of the front line.

At the same time, intense preparations are underway for a potential offensive or effective defense. According to Ukrainian media, the southern areas of Ukraine, which the Russians began to occupy in the early days of the conflict, are particularly important to them in this regard.

This is not surprising, as the so-called land corridor with Crimea was one of Russia's biggest successes in this conflict. The longest and bloodiest battles, which symbolized the war, took place there, and Mariupol was utterly destroyed. After nearly two years, Russia is trying to rebuild the city without forgetting its strategic importance.

Russians hide weapons depot among residential buildings

The Russian army is creating ammunition depots and crucial infrastructure for conducting war among the reconstructed buildings. The surrounding houses and residents form a "human shield."

The Russians have set up another weapons depot in the middle of a residential building on Torhova Street. Another war crime and further evidence of the standard "human shield" tactic. This prevents an aerial strike but does not excuse the necessity of arson,— observed Petro Andriuszczenko, the former advisor to the mayor of Mariupol.
