Russians angered by building painted in Ukraine's colors

For many months, symbols and colors associated with Ukraine have been banned and looked down upon in Russia. This often results in absurd situations, such as the one in Irkutsk, where residents objected to the colors of a renovated apartment block. The building had been painted yellow and blue. However, this situation was short-lived.

Russians react almost allergically to Ukrainian symbols and colors. The media frequently reports incidents where people in Russian cities are stopped simply for carrying a blue-and-yellow bag.

Repression against Russians also occurs when they use the letter "L," the symbol of the Russian Freedom Legion, a group of volunteers fighting on Ukraine’s side and attacking Russian border regions. Problems also arose during the presidential elections, when voters chose to cast their votes at 12 PM Eastern Time. Opponents of Putin wanted to express their dissatisfaction with his rule.

As reported by the Belsat portal, residents’ outrage in one city in the Irkutsk region of Russia was triggered by the colors of a painted building: white, blue, and yellow. Some tenants felt that the paint resembled the Ukrainian flag.

Interestingly, the residents were so upset that the issue reached the mayor. A meeting was organized with the residents. As a result, officials went from apartment to apartment to check how many people opposed the new paint job.

When it turned out that the majority did not mind the new colors, the dissatisfied individuals boycotted the survey and disagreed with its results. Consequently, the yellow color was replaced with a more "subdued" beige, reports Belsat.
