Russian TV blames jazz and jeans for America's decline

In a Russian television program, a woman stated, "If you dance jazz today, tomorrow you will sell your country." This is an example of how Kremlin propaganda operates today. She also suggested that the downfall of the United States was due to jazz and, among other things, tight jeans, emphasizing that these elements are "the path to LGBT."

Many of the claims made by Russian media and government representatives are likely not true. Such reports may be part of an information war by the Russian Federation.

In the show, a Russian woman delivered a controversial speech claiming that the downfall of the United States resulted from jazz and tight jeans. In her view, these cultural elements represent "the path to LGBT."

It's worth noting that Russia has a strong intolerance towards non-heteronormative people, which manifests at various levels of society. In contrast, the United States is a country where same-sex couples can marry.

"I absolutely agree that if you dance jazz today—by the way, I think it's hobo music—then tomorrow you will sell your country. That's a fraction of the truth, much more than a fraction of a joke. The beginning of the downfall of this great country occurred because of these phenomena, because of jazz, because of stilagi, and so on. What are stilagi, what are tight jeans? This is, excuse me, the path to LGBT," the woman said, expressing her extreme views on Western culture.

It's worth adding that stilagi was the first youth subculture in the USSR, emerging in the late 1940s and lasting until the 1960s. Although apolitical, it was characterized by an interest in Western culture, causing it to be harassed by Russian authorities.
