Many pieces of information provided by Russian media or government representatives are elements of propaganda. Such reports are part of the Russian Federation's information war.
In the video published online, a Russian soldier appears in front of a head impaled on a stake, which is said to belong to a Ukrainian soldier. Soldiers of the 155th Marine Brigade reportedly made the video. It was supposedly filmed in Belgorod Oblast, near the Kolotilovka checkpoint, where recent fighting occurred, reports Belsat, citing the DeepState project.
Swift reaction from Ukraine
After the shocking video appeared, the Ukrainian Prosecutor General's Office announced the initiation of preparatory proceedings in the case of "violation of the laws and customs of war, combined with premeditated murder."
The Ukrainian Ombudsman, Dmytro Lubinets, also appealed to the UN and the International Committee of the Red Cross. His submission concerns violations of international humanitarian law.
