According to Russian media, the incident occurred on Thursday, July 25, in Revda in the Sverdlovsk region. The footage was published on Sunday, including by the independent Russian portal, ASTRA.
Surveillance footage shows the entrance to the restaurant "Fat Shrimp." A man in uniform approaches the building with a red jerrycan. He begins pouring liquid in front of the entrance, likely gasoline. The man watching this flees inside in panic. The soldier continues pouring the liquid but fails to ignite the restaurant because someone suddenly rushes out from inside and quickly subdues him.
The ASTRA portal reports that during the arrest, the man shouted that he was a participant in the war in Ukraine.
The Russian portal BAZA reported that the customer in uniform first ate fish and then ordered a plate of fruit. After trying the fruit, the man was outraged, claiming it smelled like fish. According to BAZA, the manager of the "Fat Shrimp" reviewed kitchen surveillance footage and noted that cross-contamination was impossible since different knives are used for cutting fish and fruit.
When the customer started shouting, security escorted him outside. The man in uniform then allegedly called the police himself, stating that "a member of the Special Military Operation (as the aggression in Ukraine is called in Russia) was not allowed into the restaurant."
The restaurant owner reported that the man was first taken to the police station and later by the military, indicating he was indeed a Russian soldier.
