There seem to be no limits to Russian propaganda. Media operatives loyal to Putin are escalating tensions further, focusing their threats on more and more countries, with Germany currently in their crosshairs. Known for his aggressive rhetoric, Vladimir Soloviev, a television host on Rossija 1, ominously warned, "Berlin will burn."
Western countries have been experiencing regular attacks from Russian propagandists since the start of the war. The majority of these attacks are directed at European Union member states. Even Germany, Russia's ex-ally, has not been spared from these threats.
A recent propaganda program on Rossija 1 episode featured a particularly aggressive attack on Chancellor Olaf Scholz's government. The instigator was none other than television show host Vladimir Soloviev.
"Scholz and Annalena Baerbock (the German Foreign Minister) are so foolish that they can't foresee the consequences of their actions. Because of their actions, Berlin will end up burning and a Victory Banner will appear in the Reichstag," Soloviev spun his tale.
Soloviev leveled accusations of "Nazism" and "corruption" at Annalena Baerbock. He further condemned Germany for the current situation, blaming the election of Olaf Scholz's government for everything.
During his discourse, Soloviev stirred up references from the World War II era, insisting that Berlin needed liberating. He even went as far as to compare the current German Chancellor to Adolf Hitler.
Intensifying Russian Campaign against Germany
Threats towards German politicians and the wider society are hardly a new development. These threats are a response to Germany's firm stance against Russia's aggressive actions in Ukraine.
While the Berlin government initially showed reluctance to arm the Ukrainians, there has been a complete turnaround in their stance.
A fierce debate over arms has ensued within Germany. It's no secret that our Western neighbors are eager to modernize their Bundeswehr extensively. They have realized that local media reports describing the state of their army as "pitiful" are not unfounded.
