"The enemy has taken Kurakhove and is advancing towards Andriivka, Solone, and Novosilka," DeepState wrote on Telegram, attaching a map showing the progress of Russian forces.

Russians have captured Kurakhove: The city's strategic significance

According to authorities in Moscow, capturing Kurakhove will significantly hinder Ukrainian forces' logistical and technical support on the front.

Kurakhove is located south of Pokrovsk, a key logistical hub for the Ukrainian army.

Besides its military significance, the city is important because of the dam of the water reservoir located there, which serves a thermal power plant. Before Russia's full-scale invasion began in February 2022, approximately 18,000 people lived in Kurakhove.
