Russian drones breach Romanian airspace amid escalating conflict
During the night, amid the Russian attack on Ukraine, Romanian airspace was violated, Reuters reported on Friday, citing the Romanian Ministry of Defense.
Romanian airspace was breached during this nighttime Russian attack. According to the NEXTA Agency, which also cited the local ministry of defense, drone debris was found in the Tulcea district.
The Romanian Air Force responded by dispatching two F-16 aircraft from the base in Borcea at 8:35 PM ET to monitor the situation. After two hours, the planes returned to the base.
Drone traces
Near the village of Plauru, close to the border with Ukraine, "possible drone crash site" were discovered. The area has been secured, and an investigation is ongoing.
According to the Ukrainska Pravda portal, the Russians attacked port infrastructure in Izmail in the Odesa region. There are no casualties, but several buildings have been damaged. The village of Plauru is about 330 yards from Izmail.
Russian attack
In the last 24 hours, Ukrainian troops engaged in over 130 combat clashes on the war fronts with Russia; most occurred near the besieged city of Pokrovsk in the Donetsk region, as reported by the General Staff in Kyiv on Friday morning.
According to the DeepState project, which provides the latest reports from the battle lines and marks troop positions on the front line map, the Russians have seized three villages south of Pokrovsk.
The city, which had about 60,000 residents at the beginning of 2022, serves as a strategic logistical hub for the Ukrainian army. The Russian forces aim to encircle it.
