Russian drone attack injures nine in Sumy residential area
In the Ukrainian city of Sumy, a Russian drone struck a residential building, injuring nine people.
The attack involved a Russian "Shahed" kamikaze drone targeting the multi-family building in Sumy, resulting in nine injuries.
The explosion destroyed nine apartments and twelve balconies. Rescue services managed to save four people, including one child. A total of 118 people were evacuated.
The acting mayor, Artem Kobzar, provided information about the incident.
"Once again, a 'Shahed' has struck a multi-family building. Walls were destroyed. Ambulance and rescue services are on-site," Kobzar informed.
"At the scene, rescuers quickly deployed mobile rescue equipment. Psychologists and doctors from the State Medical Rescue Service are also present," reported the State Emergency Service of Ukraine on Telegram.
The drone attack in Sumy is another instance involving the use of unmanned aerial vehicles in the region. On January 27, a Russian drone attack damaged infrastructure in Sumy and a nearby village in the Sumy region.
Thursday marks the 1,071st day of Russia's war against Ukraine.
