Russian bomb message targets their own leaders in protest
Inscriptions on bombs dropped by both Russian and Ukrainian forces are nothing new. These inscriptions are often messages for enemies, tributes to the fallen, or references to various places and events. Recently, a new photo of such a bomb surfaced online. This particular bomb is unusual because the inscription, created by the Russians, is directed not at Ukrainians but at Russian leaders.

According to The Aviationist, Russian fighters in Ukraine chose an OFAB-250 bomb to send a message to the Russian authorities. They addressed their message to the Russian Ministry of Defense. The inscription read: "Dear Ministry of Defence, I’m FAB with UMPK. Soon I will fly to destroy occupiers in Kursk Obl. I’m upset for my crew, they have not received bonus pay for counter-terrorist operation since August. Sort it out! P.S. You can make mistakes, but you can’t lie."
The Russians sent a message to their authorities
It's important to note that the time and location of the inscription, as well as the people responsible for it, remain unknown. It is likely that Russian soldiers from a unit equipped with OFAB-250 fragmentation bombs were involved. It cannot be ruled out that the photo's online publication is part of the propaganda efforts by one of the parties in the conflict.
The OFAB-250 is a Soviet-made fragmentation bomb, weighing 551 pounds, designed to cause significant damage at the impact site. These bombs are used to destroy ground targets, like military infrastructure, and to engage personnel, making them vital in both tactical and strategic operations carried out by the Russians. Their production cost is considered relatively low, while their effectiveness is high.
These types of bombs feature various warheads, from classic fragmentation to penetration warheads intended for harder targets. They are equipped with a simple yet reliable detonation mechanism, enabling activation during high-altitude drops or upon surface contact. This design makes them versatile in different operational conditions, adjusting the explosion's power and reach to suit the targeted area's specifics. As an unguided weapon, the OFAB-250's accuracy depends on the aircraft crew's experience and weather conditions.
