Sybiha, who served as Ukraine's ambassador to Turkey from 2016 to 2021, appealed at a press conference after meeting with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan for support in stopping Russian attacks on Ukrainian ports. He conveyed that the discussion with Fidan focused on, among other things, restoring stability and security in the Black Sea and ensuring freedom of navigation.

He informed that "since the beginning of fall," four civilian ships carrying grain, corn, and humanitarian cargo destined for Palestinians have been damaged due to Russian attacks.

Turkey on the end of the war

The Turkish Foreign Minister emphasized that the war in Ukraine should be ended through negotiations and solutions based on international law.

Ankara maintains good relations with both Moscow and Kyiv and is involved in initiatives regarding the export of Ukrainian grain. President Recep Tayyip Erdogan proposes that Turkey become a platform for negotiations between Russia and Ukraine. However, Turkey's close ties with Russia complicate its relations with the West.
