Russian advances tighten grip on strategic Ukrainian town
Russian forces have captured the village of Nieskuchne in the Donetsk region, bringing them closer to encircling the key Ukrainian town of Velyka Novosilka, according to analysts from the DeepState project.
DeepState reports that the Russians have taken Nieskuchne, located southwest of Velyka Novosilka. They have also advanced in the nearby area of Vremivka.
Velyka Novosilka has been a primary target for the Russians since the fall of 2024. Nieskuchne is the second-to-last village on the aggressors' path. A small town, Vremivka, still separates them from Novosilka, and heavy fighting is ongoing.
To the north of Novosilka, Russian forces have gained control over the areas west and south of Novy Komar.
These advancements tighten the ring around the Ukrainian positions. According to Ukrainian media, the distance between the outermost points of the encirclement is now only about 4 miles.
