Russia urges restraint as India-Pakistan conflict escalates

The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement following India's attack on Pakistan. Quoted by the TASS agency, the ministry called for an end to the aggression and the prevention of a full-scale conflict.

Russia, currently engaged in the war in Ukraine after its full-scale invasion in February 2022, issued a statement urging India and Pakistan to exercise restraint.

Russia has expressed serious concern over the rising military tensions between India and Pakistan, urging both sides to show restraint to avoid further destabilization in the region, according to a statement from the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs cited by the TASS agency.

Operation "Sindoor"

India reported on Wednesday morning Eastern Time that it had launched the military operation "Sindoor" against Pakistan, striking "terrorist infrastructure" in both Pakistan and Pakistani-administered Kashmir. It emphasized that no military targets were attacked.

Twenty-six civilians were killed, and 46 were injured due to the attacks by the Indian army, reported Pakistani military spokesman Ahmed Chaudhri, as quoted by the AFP agency.

Meanwhile, Indian police reported at least 10 deaths and 48 people injured.
