Russia sets new peace talks with Ukraine for June 2 in Istanbul

Russia has proposed a second round of peace talks to Ukraine, set for next Monday, June 2, in Istanbul. During earlier discussions on May 16, Ukraine and Russia agreed to continue negotiations, each side expected to present details of their concept for a future ceasefire. During these talks, an exchange of prisoners of war, with 1,000 individuals from each side, was also agreed upon. This operation is the largest of its kind since the conflict began.

"The Russian side, as per the agreements, promptly developed the appropriate memorandum, which outlines our position on all aspects of reliably addressing the crises," stated Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.
Putin's advisor, Vladimir Medinsky, emphasized that Russia is expecting a prompt response from Ukraine. He added that he discussed this over the phone with Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov.
