Russia removes war propaganda as USA talks progress
"It seems that they have started to remove war banners in the center of Moscow," wrote Russian oppositionist Aleksander Podrabinek on social media on Saturday evening. According to him, billboards encouraging people to join the army have disappeared, among others.
Propaganda installations have vanished from in front of the United States Embassy in Moscow and along Sadovoye Koltso Boulevard.
"I specifically drove through the entire Sadovoye Ring Road in the evening - not a single billboard with 'war heroes' from Ukraine or contract service advertisements. Previously, they could be seen every 100-200 yards," claims Podrabinek.
The propaganda banners are also said to have disappeared from the train station building near the Red Gate. "It's still unclear what all this means. Propaganda billboards are still hanging further from the center. Let's see what happens next. Maybe it's technical problems," adds the oppositionist.
Talks about the end of the war between the USA and Russia
Reports from Moscow appear a few days after the first high-level US and Russian delegation meeting since the beginning of the war in Ukraine, which took place on February 18 in the capital of Saudi Arabia - Riyadh.
No specific decisions were announced after the talks. Only declarations of willingness to cooperate between the USA and Russia in various areas emerged.
Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that the talks in Riyadh were a preliminary step rather than official negotiations and that Ukraine and Europe would participate when official discussions begin.
US President Donald Trump stated on February 12 that he expects to meet with Russian leader Vladimir Putin, possibly in Saudi Arabia, but did not specify when this would take place.
