Russia regains Kursk region: Chaos and looting unfold

Russian soldiers are returning to parts of the Kursk region that the Ukrainian Armed Forces previously occupied. The local community is not entirely pleased about this, as Putin's troops have shown little regard even for their fellow countrymen. A video has surfaced online showing a Russian soldier brazenly robbing them.

Chaos in the Kursk region continues unabated. The Ukrainian Armed Forces are retreating under pressure from the Russians. Putin's soldiers are gradually reclaiming areas occupied by Ukrainians since August 2024. However, this does not mean that the average resident of this area is satisfied with the situation.

Quite the opposite—according to a recent analysis by OKO.press, when Kyiv struck the Kursk region, local authorities collapsed. Everything happened spontaneously, with no preparation or plan. The situation is similar now as the Russians reclaim occupied areas. The acting governor of the region complains about a corporation that embezzled public funds meant for border defense. Local authorities are struggling to manage the crisis.

The area from which Ukrainians are retreating, but which the Russians have not yet occupied, is referred to as a gray zone. Some residents have evacuated from this area of operations, and many homes have been abandoned. Meanwhile, Putin's soldiers are not idle.

The liberation of the land by the Russians unfortunately comes at a bitter price. In many videos circulating online, you can see Putin's soldiers looting what was left by their countrymen. In one film, a soldier is seen stealing a goose.

The man tucks it under his arm and then, to the amusement of his companion, rides with it on a bicycle down the street. Such thefts are nothing new. Virtually everything falls prey, even the most mundane items like clothing. Probably the most valuable things were well hidden or gathered during the evacuation.

Many members of the local community preferred to stay put. Some admitted that the Ukrainians treated them better than the returning Russians. OKO.press reported that such individuals are being transported further into the country. Propaganda attempts to blame all negative events in the Kursk region on the Ukrainian side. Meanwhile, as seen in the videos, Russians are freely taking advantage and doing whatever they please on the reclaimed lands.

In conclusion, although Ukrainians are retreating from Kursk, they are trying to "nip" at the aggressor in the Belgorod region. One reason for such actions is an attempt to divert the attention of Putin's soldiers from the Kursk section.
