"I think they will appear there soon because howitzers of this class are needed to ensure superiority over Western artillery systems regarding firing range," said Chemezov.

However, this doesn't mean that the Russian army fighting in Ukraine is without 2S35 howitzers. According to the Russian state agency TASS, earlier batches of this weaponry have already been deployed to the front.

A change is on the horizon, says Ukrainian commander

Meanwhile, according to the Commander in Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, warfare is expected to look different in 2024.

"2024 should be different; it must be different. Otherwise, we'll face what I discussed earlier," the Ukrainian commander said at a press briefing. Zalužny was referring to his interview with "The Economist", where he stated that the war with Russia is entering a new phase, and advanced technologies will be crucial for victory.

One significant technological advance on the front might be the appearance of the F-16 fighters in the Ukrainian sky. Great Britain has announced that the first batch of Ukrainian pilots have already completed training on these machines.
