The company Planet Labs PBC has captured satellite images showing concerning movements of Russian troops near the border with Finland. The photographs reveal, among other things, new bases for aviation and warehouses for armored vehicles. This information was shared with the public by the Swedish public broadcaster.

In Petrozavodsk, about 109 miles east of the border with Finland, three warehouses have been constructed, each capable of accommodating up to 50 armored vehicles, Swedish journalists reported.

More facilities are under construction. The Swedish and Finnish governments assure that they are closely monitoring the movements of the Russian military and will respond if necessary. According to Swedish generals, the Russian military aims to increase its freedom of action near NATO. This move is linked to Finland and Sweden joining the North Atlantic Alliance.

Polish analysts share a similar perspective. Konrad Muzyka from Rochan Consulting notes that "Russia believes that NATO is aiming for an invasion of its territory."

The Russian viewpoint is that NATO is seeking to invade their territory. That is why they are taking these measures, and the border with Finland is a new area for them to prepare for defensive actions, the expert said in an interview with "Fakt".

The Russians are fortifying the border while considering its challenging natural conditions. According to Muzyka, "The Kremlin is not planning to invade Sweden or Finland," but is enhancing its defensive capabilities and attempting to intimidate NATO.
