Russia bombards Kharkiv, civilian casualties mount

Russia attacked Kharkiv at least four times. "The occupiers used guided KAB aerial bombs, hitting a residential district," reported the head of Kharkiv's regional administration, Oleg Syniehubov. Currently, it is known that three people died, and at least 37 are injured, but the number of victims may increase.

Kharkiv Mayor Igor Terekhov reported on Telegram that explosions were heard in the city. Subsequently, the head of Kharkiv’s regional administration, Oleg Syniehubov, explained that the Russians conducted four bomb attacks in a densely populated residential area. "The occupiers used guided KAB aerial bombs, hitting a residential district," he informed.

Currently, it is known that three people have died. "The number of injured has risen to 37. Doctors are fighting for the lives of four patients - two women and two men - who are in critical condition," Syniehubov said on Telegram. According to his report, only civilian infrastructure was damaged: houses, public transport stops, and shops.

"The number of victims may increase since a rescue operation is ongoing, as a five-story residential building was destroyed in the strike. Among the injured on Gagarin Avenue are two young girls aged 12 and 13. One of them is in the hospital in serious condition," reads a police statement.

The outer wall of the residential building on Gagarin Avenue was destroyed, and apartments on at least three floors were damaged. "One guided aerial bomb hit a residential building in Kharkiv, and three more hit a production plant in another district," Mayor Terekhov told reporters.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky also addressed the issue. He confirmed that the Russians struck Kharkiv with guided bombs again.

"This Russian terror using guided bombs must and can be stopped. We need decisive actions from our partners so that we can destroy the Russian terrorists and Russian military aircraft where they are," Zelensky wrote, referencing information relayed by the "Washington Post."

The United States has imposed restrictions on the Kyiv authorities regarding shelling. According to this, Ukraine can conduct military operations within less than 62 miles of the Ukrainian-Russian border. Although American officials have not officially confirmed this allowed distance, they emphasized that Ukraine's information about such restrictions is false, reported the Washington Post.

As seen in a video posted by President Zelensky, it is a 5-story building on Gagarin Avenue. It is located next to the "Kharkiv-Levada" train and bus stations. Terekhov told the local newspaper "Gvara" that the Russians also shelled a production plant in Kharkiv. The Russians fired three anti-aircraft missiles at it. One person died there, and three others were injured.
