Roy Keane harshly criticized Kylian Mbappe for his behavior after the French national team captain returned to the field without the referee's permission in the match against Austria (1-0). "I know players can make mistakes, but to go back on and sit on the pitch, he deserved that yellow card," said the former Irish footballer.

A few minutes before the end of regulation time, Kylian Mbappe headed the ball after a cross into the penalty area and hit his nose on Kevin Danso's shoulder. The French star suffered a fracture.

Meanwhile, Roy Keane harshly criticized Mbappe for his behavior after sustaining the injury. First, there was medical intervention, and then Kylian returned to the field without the referee's permission. Shortly after, he sat on the grass and received a yellow card.

After the match, the Manchester United legend criticized Mbappe. "He gets an injury, trying to stop the play, he's gone on to sit on the pitch, I don't like to see this. This is out of order," he said in an interview with ITV Sport.

I know players can make mistakes, but to go back on and sit on the pitch, he deserved that yellow card I don't like to see it," emphasized the Irish coach and former footballer.

Keane plainly stated that Mbappe's behavior was simply inappropriate.

Kylian Mbappe injured. Will there be surgery?

The French federation stated in a special announcement that Kylian Mbappe will not undergo surgery for now.

Mbappe has returned to the French national team's base. In the coming days, he will undergo treatment. A special mask will be made for him, which will allow him to play in upcoming matches," the French federation said in an official statement quoted by "L'Equipe."
