Last year, during Russian attacks on Ukrainian ports near the border with Romania, debris from at least four drones fell on Romanian territory. Fortunately, no one was hurt. However, authorities condemned the Russian attacks and decided to warn residents of border towns about the resulting dangers.

According to Romanian media, since the fall of last year, residents of border towns have been receiving warning messages on their phones through the Ro-Alert system.

The latest alert was received by residents of the northern part of Tulcea County and part of Galați County on Saturday at 12:45 AM Eastern Time.

"Stay calm. Take cover"

"As a result of signals indicating possible military actions on the territory of Ukraine, Romanian state defense structures informed the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations, which in turn conveyed the Ro-Alert message to the population," announced the Tulcea Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (ISU) on Saturday morning.

"There is a possibility that certain objects may fall from the air. Stay calm. Take cover in basements or public shelters. If there are no shelters, stay indoors, away from windows and external walls," the message received by residents of border regions stated.
