At the age of 83, Burt Young passed away. He gained most popularity from his role as Paulie Pennino in the "Rocky" film series, starring Sylvester Stallone. His manager, Lynda Bensky, announced the popular actor's death.

According to Reuters, Young died on October 8, 2023, but the news of his death was not conveyed to the media until October 18, 2023. The "New York Times" cited the actor's daughter, Anne Morea Steingieser.

Shortly after, American media confirmed the sad news from the popular actor's manager.

Sylvester Stallone reacted to the news of the death of the actor and friend, who often starred with Young in "Rocky".

My dear Friend. You were a great artist and an amazing person. Me and the whole world will surely miss you. Goodbye and see you on the other side - wrote the moved star on Instagram.

Who was Burt Young?

Young was born in 1940 as Jerry De Louise in an Italian-American family. Before the first part of "Rocky", the actor starred in Roman Polanski's famous "Chinatown".

Since 1976, he immersed himself in the role of Paulie Pennino. The role of Rocky Balboa's brother-in-law earned him an Oscar nomination for a supporting role. As one of three actors (alongside Stallone and the late Tony Burton), he starred in all six parts of the Rocky films.

Young also gained considerable popularity from his roles in productions such as "Convoy", "Once Upon a Time in America", "Walker, Texas Ranger", or "The Sopranos". Over nearly 50 years of his professional career, he appeared in over 150 movies and series worldwide.

Interestingly, according to the actor's official biography, he himself was also... a boxer. The official record of his fights is 17 wins and one loss. Despite such a great result, he never achieved a major career in boxing.
